Export from Brazil to Europe
A Brazil-to-Europe plan needs two distinct reviews: the Brazilian export process and the receiving country's import process. Name the final market before checking tariffs, documents, product conditions, or delivery options.

Discuss a ShipmentMake the Brazilian export declaration part of readiness
Brazil's government describes the DU-E export declaration process through Portal Unico Siscomex, including amendment and consultation functions. Ask the exporter and its representative to confirm the applicable declaration and administrative requirements for the goods before dispatch.
Keep the commercial invoice, packing list, exporter identity, and transport references consistent. Establish who corrects the declaration if quantities or packing change. A cargo-ready message from the factory does not establish that export-document work is complete.
Choose the actual European customs territory
Identify the final country, importer, and entry process. For an EU destination, use Access2Markets to begin the product-and-origin review and ask the importer to confirm its customs arrangements. For the UK or another non-EU market, consult that jurisdiction's process instead.
If goods enter through one port and travel to another country, ask the broker to explain where clearance occurs and whether customs transit is involved. The first port on a transport schedule is not necessarily the final import or tax destination.
Review the commodity before assuming market access
For food, animal, plant, or other controlled goods, ask the destination importer which product-specific permissions and official certificates must be ready before loading. Check the actual commodity, production establishment where relevant, and intended use. Do not infer admissibility from a previous shipment of a different product.
For manufactured goods, provide materials, technical specifications, label artwork, and intended use for the destination compliance review. Ask whether the buyer needs test records or other supporting documentation. Customs entry and permission to place goods on the market are related but distinct responsibilities.
Treat origin and trade-agreement treatment as open questions
Ask the customs representative to check the current tariff treatment using the product code, supported origin, destination, and entry date. A trade-agreement headline or supplier assurance is not enough to establish that a particular product receives a preference.
Keep supporting production information and any required origin proof with the purchase file. Obtain a written explanation of pending duty assumptions before approving a landed-cost budget. Avoid a blanket Europe duty rate or an unsupported promise that Brazilian goods qualify for preferential entry.
Plan export collection and the European inland leg separately
Provide the actual Brazilian pickup address and export-packed dimensions, gross weight, stacking limits, and handling needs. Ask whether the offer includes factory collection and the movement to the departure terminal. If cargo is temperature-sensitive, confirm the required conditions for each handoff before acceptance.
At destination, specify the delivery postcode, unloading capability, appointment rules, and any onward distribution. Compare international freight, entry services, terminal handling, and inland delivery separately. Record quote currency, validity, excluded charges, and responsibility for storage if documents or receiving arrangements are delayed.
What to prepare before a Brazil-Europe transport review
Send the exporter and factory details, final country and delivery postcode, importer, product and origin information, declaration status, ready date, packed dimensions and weight, and agreed handoff term. Flag pending certificates or preference reviews. A clear readiness file helps the buyer resolve issues while the purchase can still be adjusted.
Common Questions
Is Europe a single import destination?
No. Specify the actual country and customs territory; EU guidance is not a substitute for UK or other requirements.
Does a DU-E settle the destination's import requirements?
No. Brazilian export formalities and the receiving country's import requirements need separate review.
Can a trade-agreement announcement be used as a duty quote?
No. Confirm the current treatment for the specific product, supported origin, and entry date.
